Douglas Boatyard is a traditional working boatyard established around 1900 to build and repair 'Nobbies', timber fishing boats once used extensively on the Irish Sea. In recent years, the boatyard has specialised in building and repairing all types of boats for recreational use, from canal cruisers to ocean-going yachts. More recently, the building of top quality bespoke narrowboats has become a vital aspect of the boatyard's work.

Bespoke Narrowboats. Order a Douglas Boatyard narrowboat, and it will be individually built to your own design and specification with no effort spared to ensure that the boat turns out exactly as you intended. To this end, long before building is commenced, several planning meetings will be held to enable the specification to be agreed and the working drawings prepared. At every stage, you will be actively involved in the design process and in the selection of fittings and finishes, the only way your complete satifaction can be guaranteed.

 

 

 

For customers without a design and specification in mind, we have a range of standard layouts which can be used or adapted as required. Either way, we will work with you to ensure that the finished narrowboat is truly individual and exacly how you would want it to be.
